We're helping to shape the future

Supporting STEM students at this year's Big Bang fair (21 to 23 June 2023)

We're helping to shape the future

Big Bang is the UK's biggest Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fair for young people.

It gave us a great opportunity to meet some of tomorrow's scientists and engineers

Participants could find out more about the STEM opportunities we offer. We're not just a civil engineering organisation. An increasing amount of our work is devoted to environmental sustainability, low carbon and climate change. We also offer a diverse range of careers from research to archaeology.

Our staff were on hand to answer people's questions about STEM opportunities with us and career paths (including trainee, graduate and apprenticeships).

Talent Specialist Sarah Bennett and Project Management Graduate Alison Harman took time out to talk to us about their work and experiences.

People also had a chance to talk to our Senior Research Engineer Nicolette Formosa.

Nicolette first collaborated with us on her PhD research into collision avoidance systems. She's now joined National Highways and has recently been recognised as one of the Women's Engineering Society Top 50 Women in Engineering.
