Plan your A303 journeys ahead of Summer Solstice at Stonehenge

We’re asking all motorists to plan their journeys ahead of next week’s Summer Solstice at Stonehenge.

The event will run from Monday 20 June until Tuesday 21 June – when the UK will enjoy its longest day of 2022.

To keep traffic moving before and after the event, we’ll be introducing a temporary 40mph speed limit on the A303 between Countess roundabout and Longbarrow roundabout, with the lay-bys closed in between. The dual carriageway will also be reduced to a single lane between Countess Roundabout and Stonehenge Cottages.

If you’re heading to the celebration, car parking will be available at Stonehenge from 7pm on Monday 20 June. We suggest car sharing or using public transport where possible as parking is limited. There will be buses available from Salisbury and pedestrians can use a temporary crossing on the A303 at Stonehenge Cottages.
